Sounds on Swapavox are uploaded by users, who confirm they have the right to share them. If you believe a sound uses your work without permission, you have two options.

Quick: report it

Open the sound’s page and choose “Report this sound”, then “It uses my work, or someone else’s, without permission”. The sound is hidden immediately while we review it. You’ll need a free account.

Formal notice (DMCA)

Send a written notice to our designated copyright agent that includes:

1. Your physical or electronic signature.
2. The copyrighted work you believe has been infringed.
3. The link to the sound on Swapavox (for example swapavox.com/sound.html?id=…).
4. Your name, address, telephone number and email address.
5. A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
6. A statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act for them.

Counter-notice

If your sound was removed and you believe that was a mistake (for example, you made it or have permission), you can send a counter-notice to the agent above with: your signature; the sound that was removed and its link; a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief it was removed by mistake or misidentification; your name, address and phone number; and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court for your address (or, if you are outside the US, any judicial district where Bozavox may be found) and will accept service from the person who sent the original notice. If the original complainant does not file a court action within 10 to 14 business days, we may restore the sound.

Repeat infringers

We close the accounts of people who repeatedly upload other people’s work without permission.
